Plaits

Existing hairstyles can be combined with dreads, or plaits etc. In addition to traditional plaits, cornrows (French plaits), and Box plaits are also available.

Box plaits

Box plaits hold the hair in very well, because there are more strands crossing and therefore more points where the hair is secured. Box plaits are great with two colours because you can have, one colour on sides and the other on front and back, on each plait. A few two colour plaits through your hairstyle can look great, like highlights.

Being round Box plaits they give some extra height, but thin Box plaits can used which are less noticeable. Box plaits take longer to do, and are therefore usually a little more expensive.

Other Plaits

Plaits in Three strands are very flattering on the face and sit against scalp with excellent section covering, because the plait size is in the width, which has a greater circumference than box plaits. Plaits in Three strands are faster to do than box plaits, and are the least expensive braid type.

Twists are only suitable with hair no longer than approximately 8 cm or 3 inches, and are mainly used to add extensions to hair which is of uniform length.

Warlocks are a plait which is wrapped with smooth synthetic hair, and melted down around the outside to create a dread like appearance.
